2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon “Mini Brute”

Posted on by 0 comment

Check out this nifty little jeep/pickup. This was a build by a firm called Spyder Offroad and it looks pretty legit. They basically took an 05 Rubicon (with 3k miles on it), swapped out the motor with an 80’s Mercedes Turbo Diesel engine, as well as turning it into a mini-pickup truck. As we know the Mercedes TD motor is bulletproof, so when you add that to a Jeep, you get a nice rugged combo. There are a TON of mods on it, but here is the short list: Complete Teraflex kit, 4.10 gears, Cooper El Dorado 35″ tires, Rubicon axles, transfer case and lockers as well as a bunch of electronics and body mods.

Here it is on Ebay: 2005 Rubicon

2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sahara Unlimited with 4BT Swap

Posted on by 0 comment

The Jeep Wrangler is arguably one of the most revered off-road vehicles of our time and the TJ is perhaps the most adored (and missed) of all Jeep generations. With that said, nothing grabs our attention like a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with a clean 4BT swap!

We are glad to see an NV4500 was used for the swap as it’s the “go to” but it’s the history of this transmission that is even more interesting. The Muncie division of General Motors merged with the New Process division of Chrysler and their first project was the NV4500 which was launched in 1993.

The 4BT swap appears to be cleanly done with some nice performance upgrades included along the way. The “Light Khaki” paint is a great color and the long-arm suspension with 37″ tires give this Rubicon a great stance. We think the price is a little steep, but with that said, a Rubicon with 82,000 miles would easily fetch $20k. Is this 4BT swap worth an additional $15k?

1983 Mitsubishi Jeep

From July 1953 until August of 1998 roughly 200,000 Jeeps were manufactured by Mitsubishi for the Japanese market. This 1983 Mitsubishi Jeep looks to be in near original condition with the exception of a replacement top, aftermarket seats and wheels. The 2.7L 4DR5 I4 diesel engine puts out 80hp and will move this Jeep to 60mph and return you 30mpg.

Find this Jeep at the upcoming Mecum auction in Kissimmee, Florida in January, 2018: https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/mitsubishi/unspecified/2030954.html
